Formerly North-East Employed and Locum GPs (NELG)

Here are some reasons why you might want to join NESG.

To meet other sessional GPs (salaried and locum GPs), at members meetings, social events, educational events or through the email group.
For mutual support over common issues (pay, contracts, education, appraisal)
To receive information about courses and local clinical guidelines, vacancies etc.
To receive automatic email alerts about locum and job vacancies.
To join the NESG email group.
To stay informed about local and national developments that are relevant to you
To ensure your views are passed on to relevant organisations e.g. PCTs, LMCs, Post-graduate Institute
To have your name published on monthly locum list (optional)
To find out everything you need to know about locum work locally (pensions, bookings, getting work).

Even if you do not like attending meetings you will be able to be part of a community by email or phone and receive monthly news by either email or post. You can be as involved or as private as you wish.

The group was originally created by and for locums but now has a wide range of sessional GPs including retainers, salaried doctors, GPs with academic or teaching interests etc.

NESG members' meetings are coordinated to occur on the same evening (7pm), and preceeding, the deanery sessional GP educational programme (8pm)- on the 1st wednesday of each month (except for January).

HOW TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP

You will receive an email reminding you 1month before your membership expires.

To renew your membership please send the membership fee £20 payable to NESG
to the treasurer (contact address on "Contacts" page. Please ensuree you include your:
-GMC numbers
-email address
-phone number.
This is so that cheques can correctly be matched up with members records and result in re-activation of the correct membership.

IF YOU ARE ALREADY A MEMBER AND WANT TO UPDATE YOUR PROFILE for example to subcsribe to the email group, BE ADDED TO THE MONTHLY LOCUM LIST, to sign up for emails about vacancies or to change your contact details:
1- please click on "LOGIN" IN TOP LEFT HAND CORNER.
2-Once logged in you will need to click on UPDATE, also in the top left hand corner.
3-Your personal record will appear.
4-Ammend the fields you wish to change (e.g. sign to email group or sign up for locum alerts)
5- click UPDATE at the bottom of the page to update you profile.

YOUR PROFILE

Your profile allows you to opt in to various group facilities:
-email group- a means of contacting groups members
-job and education alerts
-education newsletters
-having your name included on THE LOCUM LIST

It also allows you to update your contact details and demohraphic details about your working status.

WE recommend you visit this page once a quarter to ensure your profile is current.
